For the animal....

…..shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with the extension of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings: they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."

2010.2.10 Conversation with Marilyn

Marilyn – 2010.1.10

Jake and Brita
Jake:
What happened?  He shows a picture of being stepped on and squished by something large or it looked large to him because he was really little perhaps only few weeks old (3 or less),.  It could have been his mother rolling over on him when he was lying on his back.  Sometimes there is pain or he feels like it goes where it’s not supposed to go but sometimes he doesn’t notice it especially when he is still. He is good about getting it fixed and yes, he knows he overdoes it at times. He also has pain and achiness in his rear left leg around the middle below the knee.  It’s a tingly feeling probably from overdoing it.

He’s very glad he is with me but is sorry to cause me stress and trouble (he didn’t realize that it was going to cause of all of this stress).  He feels that after the surgery he will need therapy such as swimming or message or alternative therapy because his whole body is crooked.

Jake #1
Were we together before?  Yep!  “You knew that” (to me) and “you knew that too” (to Marilyn) Marilyn said: “I know I knew that but you didn’t want me to tell her” and he said “Thank you for that, but you recognized me when you saw the picture” and Marilyn said “yep (to me… you sent me that black and white picture of the white dog) and when I saw the picture I said who is that..  oh…that is the dog I just talked to.”  He is a different dog this time and back for a difference experience.

Regarding the dogs in the household… nothing special.  He feels like he is home. He is happy to be back and is showing pictures of him licking me all over.   He is flashing back and forth.  Everything is fine and everything will be taken care of.

Brita:
He’s fun.  She treats him like a brother. She says that he doesn’t know as much as she does but also he is headstrong.  She reminded me to not forget about her because she likes to do stuff and she likes to work.

Olivia:
How are you doing?  She’s ok, her head itches.  I mentioned she stopped biting when we lost Teddy, then started when we lost Ari and now when Jake came, she started again. She said she was nervous in interim with tension going on.   Regarding Jake - he’s cute, his antics are cute, gets away with murder and is funny to watch!
Kobie and Olivia

Kobie:
How do you feel about Jake?  She is not as amused as Olivia.  There is an aloofness, she doesn’t feel he is a pest just tries to ignore him – not to worry, when he is older, she’ll kick his butt.  She seems to be really happy for me now.  I asked about her and Brita and she said that Brita’s not nearly as bad as she thought she was.  There is calmness in house now and everything seems in order even with Jake there. It’s more balanced than it has been in a long time.  Her health is ok.

Ari:
It’s going well, he’s good and feels and looks good. He likes what’s going on at the house.  I asked if he knew whether Tori crossed and he said she was with him like a ghost - like a flash, there and gone.  She like went by him.
Ari and Tori
Tori:
Marilyn can’t tell if she is alive or dead and said that maybe we’re not supposed to connect.

Teddy:
Teddy
He is very handsome and proud and confident….big brown eyes.
He said that I’m progressing beautifully, taking everything in stride and growing every day.  He said that I should remember to breathe and be careful not to go go go all the time.  There is better opportunity to take care of me since it’s more balanced in the house.

Marilyn and Ari….

I talked to Ari at about 3PM 12-18-2009

Immediately upon checking in with Ari I got the impression that it was hard work to move or keep his muscles going. Shoulders ache. Elbows ache – something systemic is coursing through his body (a systemic illness or disease). Pain in left knee. Everything feels old.Brita.Ari.yard.5.5.08-44aa

Ari: (proudly) I should not have been walking this whole time, but I did it. [Marilyn’s note: He says this as though he should not have been able to even walk or get on as well as he has these past months, but he is proud of his ability to override his body and still have a good quality of life. He shows me a picture of him just lying down and watching – watching everything that is going on around him. It’s very peaceful.  He likes to be able to just sit and observe.]

Ari: They came for me last night, but I told them to go. I wanted to say good-bye [to Laurel] and the time was not appropriate when they came so I sent them away. [Marilyn’s note: he shows me a beautiful array of spirits - so light and bright… a full entourage ready to escort him to the other side, but Ari was firm in his decision to stay until he could say good-bye to you in his own way. He did not want to ‘die in his sleep’ he wanted to be with you when he left.] You are a good mom!

[Now he shows me a picture of how he will cross, it is an image of his body lying and you at his head. The body is empty/hollow and very dead and his spirit rises out of it, a feeling of floating and total release – very peaceful, very zen. He calls this “Spirit Release”

Ari: It’s okay. You’ll [Laurel] be okay. It’s time for Brita now. You’ve taken good care of me and I of you.

[He tells me it’s not just his skeletal/muscular systems failing, but also his heart and organs.

Marilyn: Ari, did you tell her [Laurel] it was time.

Ari: Not yet.  I don’t want to go, but my body says otherwise. My body is making this decision for me, but we will see each other again.  I’m going to see Teddy
and we have some work to do together.  There are others there that wait for me, too.  They have been waiting a long time, because I was supposed to have left this plane already.  And I could have left, too, if I wanted to.  But I did not want to and I am stronger than myDSC04386 body, or at least I was… for a while. I love my life. I love my love [Laurel], and I love my friends [other dogs and Joshua].

[He shows me a picture of a fire or a bonfire in your back yard]

{Back end and hips are not working, poop and pee is difficult to control/hold] He says: sorry about that.

He says: He wanted to be with you today when he goes, so he waited for you.  He loves you so, so very much. You are only separated by dimension, which is an illusion. In truth you are One and neither of you could love the other any more. You have his heart. You have done right by him and you have learned much from each other. Hold on to what you know and be You.

Teddy and Bradley

My friend Angie was here doing some dog training and she brought her 12 year old son along. He was in and out of the house doing some computer stuff and being a really good kid. At some point we were in eating a pizza and then went outside and he started playing with Ari, Kobie and Olivia and we took some videos.. he really loves dogs.....

Anyway... Angie and I went back out and a hour later we wrapped it and came in the house. Bradley was in the living room on the computer. We were standing at the counter and he asked me how many dogs I have. I said the 3 he was playing with who were right by him and Brita. Then he said: "Well, there was another dog on the porch a little while ago and I went over to the door to look and then he wasn't there". I explained that there was no way a dog can get in or out of the yard with the fence setup and the 3 were right with him and Brita was with me. I asked him to describe the dog and he described Teddy. I pulled up a picture of Teddy when he was younger by the fence and he had a really dark face and Bradley said no, the dog was more grey.

Teddy behind fence

So I showed him the picture that is below and he said, "that's the dog". When I told him Teddy was no longer with us, he was so funny because he said: "oh great... now I see dead dogs!"

2008.4.5.Teddy-8
... then I said... what was Joshua (my parrot) doing ( he was on the porch)..
Bradley said: "He was saying Hello".

This would go with the conversation with Marilyn in May....

·He’s (Teddy) everywhere….everything’s fine….comfortable…at ease…· Fine with his resting place
Ari’s coming soon but that’s ok since everyone gets along – they were together before.
He’s watching all of us and he’s everywhere..

What Ari has to Say.

Conversations with Marilyn concerning his health.
….Whole back end wobbly not losing use of only one leg but actually a leg and a half. Right leg can’t support and he can’t compensate. When he shifts his weight he falls over.
…. No headaches but dizziness.
…. Is your time up? He won’t answer it because he doesn’t want to think about it. He's in denial. He knows he’s not making it easier for me or him. He likes being a dog and doing things with me and sometimes being a clown. He’s been with me many times before… cliffs, centuries ago, involved once, dogs together (street dogs). What can I do? Love him and hold him.
….Stomach bloated but dry mouth which is why he drinks so much water. He feels kind of spacey or tipsy. He sees his mental capacities leaving but not dementia. Something physical pressing … most likely brain tumor.
…. He hates putting me through this and he wonders how I’ll ever survive without him to keep the girls in line. Loves me and hates the way he has to pee. (squatting)
…. Not long… 0-6 weeks. Very hard to say…

Kobie’s report (the caretaker – empathetic)
· Ari vomits in the back yard in the corner and doesn’t want to tell me.
· He’s trying to be strong and he’s not the dog he used to be and it’s sad.

Olivia’s report (into herself)
· Knows nothing she is so itchy. Give her drugs.(she says). it’s maddening…

Brita’s report (matter of fact)
· She knows that he’s not long for this world. Animals die. (Not rude but a reflective statement)
· Nothing she can do so she’s accepting it.· She’s sad that I’m sad and everything is heavy around here now.

Teddy
· He’s (Teddy) everywhere….everything’s fine….comfortable…at ease…· Fine with his resting place
· Ari’s coming soon but that’s ok since everyone gets along – they were together before.
· He’s watching all of us and he’s everywhere.

Olivia visiting Teddy's resting place.

One Sunday I took Olivia to Teddy's
resting place. It was the first visit in warmer weather and with no snow on the ground. She sniffed around and then settled right by it as if to say,

“I'll just watch over him for a bit”.

Teddy’s Conversations with Marilyn...

Teddy Edward  11/6/99 – 2/21/09

February 3, 2006 Does he have a blocky head?? Dark face? (yes)

Teddy behind fence
How is your hip?
(Left hip - she asked if that was the one)… It’s alright… He feels that he needs to build up muscle… like a body builder working out. (Very true but would be a fact I think with any dog that has hip dysplasia and just had a Femoral Head Excision)

Other hip?? He said he just needs to keep the muscle going. I’m three legged but try to use all 4. Other hip is mild, not severe. He’s SO glad both of them weren’t done because the other one doesn’t need it yet.

How can I help you to be less anxious when I’m coming and going? He’s not anxious when you come home but he calls it “alert”. Oh…the leaving… ..anxious then.

(There’s something with the nose,…. Sinuses…empty cavity… hard to focus… Watch him)

Why do you beat up on the girls you love when we’re all out for a walk or when I’m around and you can’t get to me? It scares them. I know you do it sometimes when I’m not around or at least you used to because my mother would see you and she worried about Olivia. Brain shutting down…. Habit, he’s gotten used to doing it and it’s partially stress. Too much stuff going on…...

What about what happened when you were a puppy? When happened when puppy isn’t important anymore. He doesn’t want to talk about it. He’s “pretty happy” now. he said “I’m her favorite”…

Teddy – what can we do about your stress barking when you’re not in the middle of things? Climbing the walls… can’t help it. Marilyn suggested an anxiety wrap and maybe the collar. Stressed – doesn’t want to be confined.. me to confine him.. he wants the opposite of I want. I want to go east he wants to go west.. same thing only a bigger picture. Doesn’t like the idea of Ari going everywhere.. content to be a house dog if I’m there.. likes to be with me… more intensity than Olivia about house dog. Depression when I go to work.. when I take the other dogs….she’s gone again… does Olivia help…. 2 peas in a pod..

February 7, 2007 Teddy – are you feeling ok? *****likes to hang out with me in LR… he thinks he's my lover boy… he thinks he’s my favorite. Ari can just go be a fighter. They were aware of how sick Ari was and Teddy said life would have been easier for him but he doesn’t wish anything bad to happen. When I mentioned a puppy he doesn’t care and will hang out with her. When I said it won’t take away from them they said be serious, of course it will!

June 7, 2007 How are you feeling? Your bones? ….ok… more relaxed - tiredness in spine arthritis… maybe from overdoing doesn’t take much..

How do you feel about Brita?
Play with him.. face – enough is enough… likes that

What else would you like to tell me? He said Olivia’s right about peeing in yard – they need to mark the yard and he does the corners and she does the house.

February 27, 2008     Teddy – How are your legs? Kind of a tingly feeling in front paws – lack of circulation… a sensation – discomfort – spot just above the elbow and ties to just behind the shoulder like a muscle pain.. not a bone related issue.. could be a pinched nerve – massage or acupuncture better than chiropractic but that would help. Yes the red light on neck… it’s the right leg and left side of the neck C2-3 where the shoulder attaches - he also has a headache. He loves me and likes when I rub his ears – Brita takes advantage of him and of his good nature and she bugs him. Because of his movements she is more annoying. She is a bundle of energy and doesn’t stop moving and kind of fun and amusing and also an irritant because she is so spunky. He wants to go on walks when he gets better.. Lying around can be exhausting. Be his coach…

April 7, 2008             Note: Marilyn feels the pain in her own body where a dog describes it. I asked her if the fact that he was on pain killers affected what he described and she said “yes, thank goodness” and she’s glad or it would really be painful.

* Teddy says that the bones in his right front foot feel icky – arthritic – like being pulled together. He bites there but it doesn’t help but it gives him satisfaction (like us biting nails when stressed).

* His right front shoulder feels weird. Marilyn described it by asking me if I saw the hair commercial where the hair shaft breaks apart and it looks frizzy because that what it seems like)

* He has an intense ache in his joints – on a scale of 1-10 it’s a probably a 6.

* The left front ankle area (not in the paw) is painful and the pain radiates up and down the bone.

* The right side of his neck feels pinched or squeezed and the right shoulder is tied into it. Marilyn described it like a drawstring – when the jaw moves the neck turns into the shoulder and when the head turns it causes tightening and the shoulder and neck seem to be magnetized.

* He says there is stress in his low back. He says he has a pain in his rear left hip. It feels like waves of pain…pulsating…like a cadence…tremor. It will be continuous and then it will stop for awhile. It’s hard to get up when it’s happening.

* He has a headache and is sometimes nauseous.

* He says there is a tension across his chest. (I mentioned cancer spreading to organs and asked about a chest x-ray and she said it probably wouldn’t show anything.)

* He says he saw me pull others (Kobie and Ari) through and is willing to work to get better but thinks this time it won’t happen. He understands that all things change form.

* He says he is not able to do the things he used to do like rolling on his back. (I commented that he didn’t do that because of the way his back was shaped and then I remembered these times I took photos.)

He says that he likes sleeping next to me (which he hadn’t done very often). (yesterday he snuggled) He says it draws on my energy (not negative for me) …like plugging in. He’ll be sticking closer to me now.

April 28, 2008            Teddy – after trip to the vet, that, yet again, showed nothing on the x-rays, this time of his back legs and abdomen. He is achy in his low back and hips and anything other than a light touch hurts him. Massage around his neck feels good but not toward his back end. He is very uncomfortable and Marilyn feels that it could be systemic and pain in the joints. To write off any tick related diseases, even though he tested negative, he’ll be on Doxycyclene for a few weeks.

5/19/2008                Teddy – Shoulder aches – he’s fatigued and can be out-of-sorts a lot. He’s really slowing down and likes to lay down and sometimes it’s hard to hold his head up. He said he loves me and I don’t have to say it back because he knows I love him and now he wants to cherish the good times left which could be months – August?? …fall?? He said he has muscle spasms in his shoulder but not to worry, they don’t hurt. I said we’ll get water in his pool and he said he’d love that! His paw feels numb.

Marilyn said he’s saying he wants ice cream?? I’ve come to the conclusion that it may be pumpkin that he’s taking about. I have kept a can in the fridge in the past and spoon fed it to Kobie and Teddy and they liked that so I have started to do that again.

The other dogs are very respectful of him and I told her Kobie was play bowing to him outside and I was concerned she was too rough but Marilyn said unless Kobie is touching him, let her because it’s her way of cheering him up which is Kobie’s role.

Tori's Conversations with Marilyn

Tori's journey from rescue to service dog and back is well documented in her website.  These are the conversations from the beginning with Marilyn

February 3, 2006
********Do you know what happened to you that caused your back to hurt? Is it better now after Maryna worked on you? Do you know if you had an accident that caused your tail to be out of line? Is there something else wrong with your back? What can I do to help you? Oh…she got it (Marilyn said) (Marilyn didn’t know why HER back was hurting but often she gets pain in her body where the dogs pain is)

It has something to do with when she was born. Maybe an accident or like a human breach birth. There is muscle pain and ice on would make it feel better. She still has pain but it’s better. Doesn’t feel like a pinched nerve. It’s probably out of alignment and a chiropractor would help. It’s painful and sometimes restricts movements. When she twists she feels it more. Drive takes over when she’s running so she runs fast and ignores the pain.
(This is exactly what medical people told me. I subsequently took her to a chiropractor who did some treatment and she seemed to feel better)

********Do you like being a Therapy Dog like you seem to? If you could get along with Teddy there would be more places you could go but you terrorize him. Why do you act like such a bully? You could have so much more fun if you got along with him. She doesn’t think that Teddy likes her. She’d like therapy work and likes to work with kids. (maybe 11-12 year olds) Maybe cancer patients. She has lots of compassion and is very people oriented. Probably she’s a young soul. (The first evaluation she had at the hospital I let her go in the room where there were a number of people sitting around. She went from one to the other and Kim and I just stood there and watched her because she seemed like it was so natural for her)

**********Why do you eat everything (stuffed animals/rubber toys)? She frustrated and bored because my attention is divided among all the dogs. Maybe she’d be better in a home with no other dogs.

********What can I do to make your life happier? Do you like to snuggle or do you do it to make me happy? She really likes it because it’s where she relaxes and can forget about the other dogs.

…She thinks she’s at a WAY STATION and this isn’t a permanent home for her which is why she doesn’t feel the need to get along with other dogs. (Marilyn asked how long I had her before she told me this and was surprised when I said 2 years because of Tori saying it is a temporary home)

She doesn’t have much use for the other dogs. They were here first and THEY made it clear (mannerisms) that she is an outsider. She likes people and she’s here to work with people. No knowledge of dog skills and sees no use for it. She doesn’t know dog body language. She tried to talk to them but she always feels like an outsider. Why should she try to make friends? Ari (who has said she’s the princess and he feels sorry for her) is smart enough to know he’s the favorite of the 2 and lets her get away with things. He picks his battles.

(At this time I burst in to tears because I had been thinking that she needed to be an only dog and it wasn’t fair for me to keep her and not pay attention to her) The next evening I verbalized to someone that I need to find a home for her and that if it took a year I would wait until I found the perfect one. That was a Saturday and on Monday the perfect home presented itself. She would be a Psychiatric Service Dog for a woman who lived alone and would go with her everywhere)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
February 17, 2006
(The following is an email from Marilyn on 2/17/06 after she “talked” with Tori after Tori met and spent some time with the woman who she would be working with and my comments)
From what I understand form Tori she is very relaxed and at ease with this new person. And at ease in general – as in more comfortable that things are progressing.
Email from Angie (the gal that trains service dogs) regarding the meeting with Joanne and Tori last week: I don't know how to explain it, but when I looked into Tori's eyes when I went to greet her, she spoke volumes, and I had a good feeling about her new path.
She likes the woman she will be working for and the daughter as well. The older woman doesn’t have too much experience with dogs – kind of an old-school mentality, like when dogs were allowed to roam the neighborhood freely and formalized training wasn’t necessary, dogs just seemed to learn through osmosis.
Confirmed and it’s true.
The interesting thing is that this doesn’t bother Tori, because she is patient enough to work with this woman and says that she can learn through the sheer intent of the woman’s desire for Tori to ‘get it.’ Yes, things would be different at the new place, but Tori will be relied upon more to use her head to figure things out without normal positive or ‘marker/clicker’ guidance and that is okay with her. :
Email from the Angie: Interesting about Tori. Funny, but I wasn't planning on using clicker or marker words with Joanne, as I felt it would have been too much for Joanne.
She will assume a role of a support dog and she likes being the ‘go to’ girl. She likes that idea of this responsibility. She would like any assistance you can offer the people about training and working with the dogs, but don’t be discouraged if they don’t follow all of your plans. Their hearts are in the right place and they will do right by her. The daughter seems to have a better understanding of dog training, having formally trained a few (2?) dogs herself (perhaps not to title, but in formal classroom setting with guidance from a qualified instructor).
YUP….2 Bernese Mountain Dogs… one she had put down on Friday at 5 years old….cancer…. She thought maybe she could put a CD on Tori and that would her mother involved in an activity which she desperately needs. She is not qualified to train a guide or service dog though and I would encourage you to get her help with this responsibility (or point her to an organization that will help). Trish told me on Sunday that she had hired Angie…. The older woman could also use some support/training on how to control Tori in social situations if the dog is going to go with her to places as a service dog Email from Angie: I also have a lot of material that is easy to understand about canine behavior so that she can better relate to Tori. The first year can be a bit of a roller coaster ride for the "team", but with support, and a lot of guidance, I feel they will be successful.
nd the older woman will need to be able to verbalize that the dog is working, not a toy for other people to pet, touch handle – the woman will need to be firm with humans! Tori encourages you, Laurel, saying that you are doing the right thing.
She’s probably telling me this because she’s tired of licking tears from my face.
S
he would like to have time to work with you (maybe occasional SchH work, if she’s done that in the past) if it works for both families. She wants you to know that there are aspects of living with you that she will miss – your knowledge of dogs and the extra-curricular activities your dogs are involved in – but she also knows that her mission is working in a one-dog home and taking care of people. She would still like to be involved with therapy dog work, which is her desire, but will be mutually beneficial from a social standpoint for her new handler.
Yup….that’s in the plan… She already is registered with Therapy Dogs, Inc. and I’ll certify them as a team. Trisha and her dog are also a registered team so most likely they will visit the hospital together. That’s life according to Tori – hope that makes sense. Let me know if I got all your questions answered. Marilyn Tokach 952-226-2622 www.Pure-Spirit.com
Tori conversation – Marilyn 3/28/06 Something’s not settling well in her stomach. She could be constipated and not having regular bowel movements…. It could affect her back end. Does she eat a lot of cheese? She’s getting a lot of crap to eat. It seems to me (Marilyn) in the mid back 5 vertebrae from shoulder on left and it feels like a pinched nerve. It could be originating from spine and does grip left side. 2 more vertebrae to right side same thing. Other place is her rear left hip like she has fatigued muscles or around joint. Could be overuse but she’s out of shape. A chiropractic adjustment would probably help. Also, there’s tension by her head where her spine attaches to occipital. 2 more vertebrae to right side same thing. Other place is her rear left hip like she has fatigued muscles or around joint. Could be overuse but she’s out of shape. A chiropractic adjustment would probably help. Also, there’s tension by her head where her spine attaches to occipital.
Regarding the incident last week: Marilyn sees a teenage male surprising her and maybe coming up from the back and touching her. It was too rough and Tori thought rude and hurtful. No one really saw it happen. Regarding her new place: She feels appreciated but not useful and would like to be more useful. Part of it is she doesn’t get to work and there’s nothing to do. She feels like a companion dog for a sedentary person and it’s not what she had anticipated. She likes the new person and the one on one attention but needs to be more active. They sit around a lot. She’s bored.
And then she said the pain in back is really intense and feels like pinched nerve. Trainer (Angie) can insist on more activity. One time a week is not enough for Tori and there should be more each day.
What’s going on? Feels bad physically – something with her butt – seems like anally and muscles in hips holding really tight….pressure around her body like wearing a belt – spine doesn’t feel loose and supple actually kind of immobile – head/mind fine… lucid – may or may not have a yeast infection in private parts… scale 40 of 100 – how she feels …. Back end horrible… low back above tailbone … still itches… feels worst – feels like someone pushing down on low back… chiropractor care for it would help.
What happened?
…..She loved Joanne and being there for her but there is sadness and a heavy heart. She couldn’t continue to support her the way she needed to be supported. …….They were co-dependant – have to feel sorry for everyone involved – somewhat abusive – Joanne chose to stay in hell she was in because that was what she knew. …….Joanne could have taken more responsibility than she did. No judgment on Joanne …….Tori felt like she was in like a box – small apartment or just energy like in a box. She felt trapped and it was dark with no hope. …….Tori just couldn’t take it and the work was killing her literally – because she couldn’t be the support Joanne needed there was animosity and polar issues. …….Tori would have died had she stayed - she needed a way out and that was the only way. …….And then I came – an angel she said – like a light coming to her – then didn’t know what to do because she was so happy – life is worth living – rescued from the abyss she had fallen in to. …….In some ways she feels that she failed Joanne – huge sadness… It’s wasn’t the job she thought it was. She went into it thinking it would be one thing and it was totally different and she stuck with it to try to make it work. Not as glamorous as she expected it to be and glamorous may be the wrong word but she didn’t expect it to be so dark (keeps mentioning how dark).
Were you abused? Joanne probably squeezing or twisting Tori… very dark… Wants to live now?? Yes if it’s the right situation – or anything like it. (Told her about the lady in Madison) That would be great as long as she can come and visit and run with the dogs. It’s so exciting to do that. She needs to be with a one dog person. Likes to run free and play. Do you want surgery? (I said she’ll feel worse)
How silly - how could it be worse? 2 weeks ago she thought she was coming here to die. When I brought her back she was ready to die and she wanted to die in presence of love and caring. Then she decided being here with me was kind of fun and she didn’t want to die anymore. She said it’s important for me to know I wouldn’t have been wrong to euthanize her – things change nothing is permanent – when came back to die she was looking for a way out. It was time to wipe this slate clean and start over. (reincarnate)
What does she want to tell me?
Initially she said “you’re the mom” She said that she watched an internal struggle – a moral struggle in the last few days and she had internal anguish observing me. However she is not sorry about it because it was a huge opportunity for personal growth (mine) like a flower opening. She says that whatever I do will be the right thing because she’s seen it before.
November of 2008 she went to live with Merle.  I saw her on her birthday in January which was the last time.  There have been several times I talked with Marilyn documented below.
February 10. 2009 ......    “Very content” “Very comfortable” “She wishes she saw me more often but she’s very comfortable where she is.”
This is what she said to Marilyn today and it made me feel VERY good. I know she’s in the best place she can be but I still think about her every day….
Addison's Disease - 2007
Addison's Disease
Ari started having trouble getting up in the morning January of 2007. The first diagnosis was
Lumbar Stenosis, then mid January he was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis, a tick related disease. Then a few weeks later he was not eating well and one morning I woke up and he was in a coma.
After I rushed him to the vet where he was given a 50/50 chance, I learned more than I ever wanted to about an Addisonian Crisis. He slowly came out of it and several days later came home for the weekend. The next week, no eating again and
blood tests revealed that his liver numbers were 10x normal. More IVs.
He now has to get a monthly
Percorten shot and low doses of Prednisone to keep him going. Since then he stiffened up – Anaplasmosis again so once more being treated for that. In addition, he is borderline Pancreatic Insufficient and gets enzymes on his food and has some developed Spondylosis.
Ari aged overnight but his fun loving attitude never waivered. He still (September 2008) chases the school bus and keeps the yard free from critters. His Percortin shots have extended to 45 days apart and he seems to do well on 2.5 mg. of Prednisone daily.
During his Crisis he may have actually crossed over but returned because as I was driving him to
Great Lakes Vet, THREE large deer crossed in front of me before my first turn. I turned the corner and again they crossed in front of me. It seemed a little weird at the time because they were so big and they didn't really hurry and I had to stop. After researching it I found this written:
The DEER represents entrance into the spirit world. Perhaps the symbol of the deer was used to represent the fleeting life review which occurs there shortly after arrival in the spirit world according to recent literature on near-death experiences.
When I talked to
Marilyn Tokach, Animal Communicator, she had a very hard time connecting with Ari which was unusual but when she did, he told her it could go either way and was ok with whatever turned out. Because I'm a true dog lover, I told him that it was NOT ok and that he had more to do in THIS world!
You Almost Died You Know!
After he almost died from an Addisonian Crisis I spoke with him...
How are you feeling?
*******pretty good…muscle ache between shoulder blade – maybe stress – maybe not stress...
Do you feel well enough to work?
*******yea….doesn’t like the surprises like people coming from behind - this is disturbing to him… maybe too much pressure. He likes what he can see. He knows what to expect because it’s the regular guys … when a strange helper it bugs him.. He likes working in defense....
Do you know how close you came to not being here? ******yes he does – at one point he really zoned and was balancing – he was very aware and so on the edge that he had no strong opinion. He is glad to be back and is excited about the working again. He’s sorry he stressed me out and when asked what he likes he answered being outside and being with girls....
I’m thinking about getting a girl puppy to train so when you can’t trial anymore we can still go and you can get fun bites…. What would you think about that? And a girl so you could hang out together.
******* A new puppy should be a girl and he could teach her to work very well. (I said bad things too like chasing the bus) and he said he can’t help it if she learns those things and that’s not bad anyway.
What is Animal Communication
SimbaSimba
Animal Communication, or Interspecies Communication as it is sometimes called, happens every day. Think about it.  You've communicated with your own pet or another animal from time to time in your own life.
As humans we rely on verbal communications. Yet experts tell us that non-verbal communication methods such as facial expressions, tones of voice, gestures, eye contact, spatial arrangements, patterns of touch, expressive movement, cultural differences can be more important in understanding human behavior than words alone--the nonverbal "channels" seem to be more powerful than what people say.
Can you think of a time when you've communicated with an animal? Perhaps your dog "told" you he needed to go out or your cat "said" she was hungry? Sure the communication might have been punctuated with "woof" or "meow," but you got the message.
Yet animal communication is not just a matter of reading non-verbal cues. If we recognize that non-verbal cues are a form of communication, then we have to acknowledge that our animal companions are capable of thinking and feeling. At the very least they know what they want and how to get their point across.
What about the dog that nips at a certain visitor to your home, or the horse that won't be trailered for shows, but always loads readily for trail rides? How do they know? Do they really have an opinion?
So is there more to animal communication than the verbal and non-verbal? Absolutely! There is for people, too.
Telepathy is communicating feelings (pathos) over distance (tele); it is mind-to-mind contact. People do communicate this way, but it's not relied on and usually denied or dismissed.
Surely you've "connected" with people occasionally in life when you could finish each other's sentences or phoned each other at the same moment.
As we've evolved as humans, we've stopped depending on and practicing telepathic communications.  Animals haven't.
Animal communication is mind-to-mind communication with animals. It's not mind reading; it's two-way participative communication between two sentient beings. Most of my animal communication consults are by phone, thereby impossible to rely on verbal or non-verbal cues.
And the best part is - anyone can do it. It takes patience and practice. Taking a class is recommended, because it's easier and more fun to practice with people interested in the same thing who are able to offer feedback and confirm your abilities.
Taking the time to connect with your animal companion(s), either on your own or through consultation with an Animal Communicator, will strengthen your understanding of each other and deepen your bond.
